Everyone is talking about global warming, climate change and biodiversity loss. Countries all over the world are trying to figure out how to stop the planet from warming to the point of no return.
Indigenous people and populations of color are being disproportionately affected by climate change, making the poor poorer and the vulnerable even more vulnerable.
There has been much talk about climate change and the need to get to net zero carbon emissions by the year 2050. Governments and corporations are talking but not doing much in terms of concrete actions.
All of this has led to us suffering from "climate anxiety" - from a feeling of helplessness. Of hopelessness.
All that said, nobody has really thought about what the average person can do to help. Everyone talks about burning less coal, about reducing greenhouse gasses, and about other large goals. But no one is talking about what you and I can do - as individuals and as inhabitants of the planet - to help repair our climate and save this beautiful thing we call Earth. To fight the climate anxiety we increasingly suffer from.
My Earth My Action was founded to help ordinary people like us to join the fight against climate change, promote biodiversity, and to help those people and communities that have been disproportionately impacted.
Individually, our impact might be small but collectively we will make a difference by working to help save our planet through stewardship and through action.
To make a difference, however, each of us must do our part.
We must ALL ACT! Before it is too late!
The Pledge is simple, concise, and easy to follow (and easy to share)!
1. I pledge to do my part to fight climate change and to promote climate justice.
2. I will act to help reduce my climate footprint and the footprint of others.
3. I will advocate for climate justice and for those most affected by climate change.
4. I will personally act, and support efforts, to mitigate the impact of climate change on vulnerable and indigenous peoples around the world; and help them to adapt to the effects of climate change.
5. Together, by each doing our parts through personal action, we will make a difference!
One-third of all food produced is either lost or wasted. According to UNEP’s Food Waste and Index Report, people globally waste 1 billion tons of food each year, which accounts for around 8-10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Avoid waste by only buying what you need. Take advantage of every edible part of the foods you purchase. Measure portion sizes of rice and other staples before cooking them, store food correctly (use your freezer if you have one), be creative with leftovers, share extras with your friends and neighbors and contribute to a local food-sharing scheme.
Make compost out of inedible remnants and use it to fertilize your garden. Composting is one of the best options for managing organic waste while also reducing environmental impacts.
